Farewell Star Ferry Central Pier

The Star Ferry Pier is well-known because of its unique bells of the antique tower have marked every quarter-hour since 1957, when Hong Kong’s industry was just taking off, till the present.

The pier at Edinburgh Place is going to move forward towards the Victoria Harbour owning to new reclamation for building new roads. The pier is expected to move to Pier 7 and 8 on the reclaimed land in November 2006, which is around 300 metres away from the old pier.

Don't be misled, Chris, the majority of theses photos were not taken on, or near, the last day of the Central Star ferry.
It's a good portrail of the working of the ferry but does nor reflect the public interest during the final day.
