Here is a sample of the tiles exhibited on the fence of the Mercer Street Playground in Greenwich Village, NYC, on December 25, 2004. The exhibit has since been removed. After I photographed this sample, I looked up the referenced website at http://www.transculturalexchange.org/tileproject/ that provides more details about the exhibit. I hope you find the photographs and project interesting.

As of September 2013, the NYC/NYU2031 Administration Plan calls for the destruction of this public park and children's playground area for the construction of a massive NYU "boomerang" building. The New York City Land Use, Planning Commission and City Council have approved the overall NYU2031 Administration Plan against strong public and NYU faculty protests. However, Mayor Bloomberg has not publicly signed the final approval of the plan and a destruction/construction schedule has not been publicly presented. Legal proceedings are pending to stop the destruction of historic Greenwich Village with the NYC/NYU2031 Plan that will destroy off the streets children's playgrounds, public park strips, a dog run, the Washington Square Village Sasaki Garden, LaGuardia Corner Gardens, LaGuardia Place Garden, Mercer and Bleecker Street gardens and over a thousand plants, bushes and trees.
