Ground Zero New York City

Yesterday, June 7, 2004, I happened to be in the 'Ground Zero' area of lower Manhattan and took some new photos of the area. Additional photos have been added to this gallery since then.

The area represented here roughly covers City Hall, the financial district and Hudson River Park, near and around the Winter Garden.

Great gallery of a great town. Last time I was visiting this place a month before the attack. It was such a nice view from the towers. And now the World Sculpture is a great reminder of 911. v

Wonderful, meaningful images of sacred ground. I went back for the first time in December 2001, expecting to be unable to imagine the towers weren't there anymore. Instead, I was almost unable to imagine they had ever been there. As the "rebirth" continues I fear it will become even harder to remember -- it's images like yours that reassure me I'll never have to forget. Heartfelt thanks.

Thinking of people everywhere effected by September 11 & made even more aware this week with the bombing of our Australian Embassy in Jakata & more loss of life. For you as a New Yorker it must be extremely difficult to face this anniversary each year.

last summer i went to ground zero also my 8 year old grandson wanted to see it i will have to look for my pictures i took last year i put all my pictures on cd i will let you know when i find mine

zero but did have a camera at the time.
my nephew wanted to see it. he is 8yrs old.
