This July I was lucky enough to be given a place in the Amateur Photographer "Maloney Live" photoshoot. It was an inspiring day out, but also slightly alarming! The shoot was done using colour positive film, there was a two hour time limit and each participant selected their three favourite images for projection back at the office, a critique by Mike Maloney and ultimately publication in AP. Mike also looked at the rest of the images on a light box and said if he thought a participant had overlooked any images which were better than those chosen. For AP's purposes the images used had to be be full frame, so small exposure latitude, the need to compose in the view finder and a tight time limit made this an exciting challenge. The versions of my images shown here in this gallery have all been cropped and edited, even the three which were used in the magazine. The editing process was a sobering reminder of how disciplined photographers need to be and how far short I fall of the ideal!
