Piazza Venezia

This public square is dominated by the Vittorio Emanuele Monument, built in the early 20th century to honor the king who unified Italy in 1870. The monument is referred to as "the wedding cake" due to it's over-the-top white marble gaudiness.
More seriously, it also houses Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded by different Italian military units.
