My recent Cayman and Indonesia trips gave me new found appreciation for winter diving in the Northwest. While we have environmental issues, we do not treat the ocean as a garbage dump as they do in South East Asia. If you dump your unwanted tropical marine fish into our water, they will be dead in minutes, not multiply unchecked and destroy a finely balanced marine ecosystem for millenia, which has happened in the Caribbean. Our 45 degree water and 40 degree air discourage the whiners, prima donas, and barely competent divers who are all too common in the more popular diving destinations of the Caribbean. It is good to be back.
