On one of the first warm days of spring, I was to meet a friend at a coffee shop.....when informed she would be 45 minutes late. I had my D300 with 18-135 attached and decided to try for some "street portraits" of various coffee shop patrons and they came and left (I was occupying an outside table near the main door). Since I normally shoot sports, this was all new to me.
By street portraits, I meant shooting candids but with the idea of deriving head and shoulder or at most above the waist portraits of the folk, rather than full blown images. I also wanted to see if I could bend the strong light contrasts to my will and still get decent "portrait" shots. Here are the efforts I consider good enough to keep. Your criticisms and comments would be welcome.
