Samirah Evans Sings George Gershwin

Shot at Memorial Hall in Wilmington, VT. Samirah and her group played straight ahead jazz using Gershwin tunes as a base during the first half. The second half wa unuaually interesting, as bassist George Kay at Samirah's pleading wrote a transcription of the original pit orchestration for Porgy & Bess, this time for piano, woodwinds, trombone, bass, and drums. Essentially turned it into a jazz opera. The full house (me as well) loved it.
