This is the first time I've visited the museum since the Villa opened. The building is a re-creation of a first-century Roman country home. Mr. Getty never saw the finshed project in person, although he was very involved in the construction and details before his death. The villa opened in 1974. I hope to re-visit again to see more of the exhibits. We took a docent tour of the architecture and garden tour which I highly recommend, but make sure to leave time to visit all the exhibits. And the Cafe menu is absolutely delicious!
