Thanks for the ID, David. This specimen was found in the Western US. I have since found reference that this is also called a red shoulder stink bug, rather than a green shield stink bug. I don't collect them, only photograph when they are found in my garden.

This is a species in the genus Thyanta. I could probably give a species name if I knew where it was collected. I am guessing that it was collected in the western U.S., in which case it would be Thyanta pallidovirens. If it was collected from the eastern two-thirds of the U.S., then it would be Thyanta custator accerra.
