I’m looking out over the ‘Vliehors’ here, the southern tip of Vlieland Island.
Humans on the island claim it’s the largest open sand flat in Europe.
Some days of the week the area is closed because the Dutch Air Force has its target practice here.
No dog wants to be around when those Dutch jet pilots start firing their guns, believe me.
Last year one pilot even managed to accidently hit the control tower (turned out later
he wasn’t a Dutchman but a Danish student pilot...)
Anyway, I’m up here on what they call the ‘Reddingshuisje’, originally a shelter for
shipwreched humans. It was built up on poles so the high tide won’t wash it away.
How did I get here? I’ll show you later.
Have a super Easter Monday!
