Resurrection Bay waterfront campground with Mount Marathon in the background.
Mount Marathon dominates the Seward skyline. A steep one and a half mile long trail to the top
(elev. 3,022 feet or 921 meters) is the scene of an annual Fourth of July endurance race for 300 men and 300 women.
The fastest recorded time for a round trip run is 41 minutes and 26 seconds, set in 2016 by David Norris.
The higher elevations of Mount Marathon offer a great view of Seward.
On the far side of the mount are the Harding Icefield and Exit Glacier.
