Had a good hike in the woods today with my human.
For the first time it seemed like Spring was in the air. Much too early, of course.
I was in Norway last Summer. Some of you will remember. I found out then that many Norwegians
have a somewhat different attitude when it comes to us animals.
For one thing they still hunt and kill seals (while at the same time in my country we have
seal shelters that adopt and cure sick seals).
The Norwegian humans even still hunt and kill whales!
And now these Vikings have published an official report stating that:
* 1. worms used as bait on fish hooks do not suffer;
worms are unable to feel pain, the Norwegians say
* 2. lobsters and crabs that are cooked alive do not suffer;
lobsters and crabs are unable to feel pain, the Norwegians say
Don't laugh, this is serious stuff. The Norwegians want to change their laws on aminal protection.
And, for preparations, they start with the basics. That's what this is for.
So here's a statement I want to make. After last Summer I can say without a reasonable doubt
that some Norwegians lack a normal human sympathy for animals.
They are unable to feel pain when something bad happens to animals.
Maybe some of them should be tested on fish hooks.
After that they may discuss the new Norwegian animal protection law.
