Joop's Dog Log - Tuesday Mar 23

More violence in Israel. And still more to come. It`s a dirty war.
I feel so tired.
An old man in a wheelchair killed with missiles from a helicopter,
but that same old man inspired the killing of hundreds of civilian humans.
So who are the victims and who are the criminals here?
It gets harder and harder to decide who the good guys are in the Middle East.
Still, as long as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues,
our world cannot get better.
But my human says I may not live long enough to see the end of it.
This is far from over, he says. And it could get a lot worse.
Maybe he`s wrong. Can`t hurt to keep the faith.
Unbelievable things do happen sometimes.
Hey, we got rid of the Berlin Wall too, didn`t we?

Joop's dog is one the coolest in my book. He's waiting for a question here.

Thanks for the reminder about the Berlin Wall. That was a Biggie! Yeah, this mess would make anyone tired, and a lot of us probably won`t see `peace in our time.` But we can keep trying to have peace in our lives and see where that goes. Stick around, Joop. I don`t think you`ll ever fully know how important you are to everyone else.

Yes! The Berlin Wall is down, women can vote, gays can marry, Europe has united itself, and more and more people are standing up against war. Humans are tired of this nonsense. So yes, keep up the hope. Things change all the time and people make things happen! :-)

Moin Joop, wow...what a tough topic today! I should like to hear what Knuddelbacke`s opinion is, cause he grew up in the former GDR and is the only one to know how it felt to live there. I always lived in the FRG and the former eastern part of Germany was always another country for my generation. Our minds are splitted, because "the big reunion" was more or less a business act and financial profit : they promised them "flowering landscapes" and prosperity, but the wages and salaries are basicly lower and the unemployment ratio much higher than in WesternGermany. I am not sure that this was the real reason for the people of the former GDR to fight for.......

Let`s hope, Joop, we get some humans who value human life over self interest to run things. (Marvin will be heading north around April 7. He has had so many adventures, including a brief encounter with some guinea pigs that was too exciting for words!}

your comment about the berlin wall sparked some genuine hope in me (that and the end of apartheid were defining political moments in my teenage years) but then waldgeister interrupted with some realism.
this is getting alarming, i agree. i spent a long time today looking at photos of the blast debris and can`t get the idea of such a gruesome, violent death out of my mind. "overkill" is a word that springs to mind. "warcrime" is another. at the same time it makes me think of what happens to ordinary people on their daily bus-ride who didn`t choose to be part of a war - it doesn`t keep them from the same fate.
it`s so twisted, you`re right. there seems to be no answer, no moral ground to tread on. except ...
whatever happened to the authority of the u.n.? is it just part of my schoolboy indoctrination that they ever had any effect at all? they founded the state of israel, after all! (just makes me angrier at our own "government" for going along with the iraq thing, not to mention our refusal of u.n. inspection of refugee camps. we have a federal election coming this year. fingers crossed.)
I`m just getting very tired.

I have a feeling none of us will live long enough to see the resolution of the Mideast conflict. And your human is right...it is almost impossible to figure out what is REALLY going on over there...I keep shifting in whom I feel is right and wrong. Maybe that`s the problem...it is not a black and white kind of situation...and we humans find it much easier to deal in absolutes...like gwb who dichtomizes the world so easily into the good and the bad...and if ya ain`t with him, you`re again` him.
There is evil in the world, and I have a feeling that Yassin was part of that evil...but there are also plenty of shades of gray...how it all fits together, I do not know. Do you, Joop.

Wise musings, as usual. All I know for sure about the situation there is that it`s horribly sad and there`s no right or wrong involved. Everyone who escalates the violence without seeking solutions is at fault. Sigh.

Good thought about the Berlin Wall Joop, we have to hope for the best. You`re also right about dogs and intelligence but generally even on those standards Polly was daft, I sometimes marvelled that she had the sense to keep breathing but then I don`t judge worth by percieved intelligence and she was great and taught me many lessons .. one way or another!

Don't give up, Joop. There is always hopw. We do not know what the future holds for us, perhaps we humans will wake up from our self inflicted nightmare...

Joop. I also hope this madness stops for the sake of the future generations of men and dogs!

You have to share a cookie with your human, you two make a fantastic pair:-)

Joop, when I first saw your daily gallery I thought it was just another boring pet picture deal; little did I know that it was going to be so interesting...and relevant! How lucky you are to have such a caring and smart human.
