Joop's Dog Log - Sunday Feb 22

Bright chilly morning in Paterswolde. Just got back from my Sunday morning walk.
This is the far end of my street.
We saw a car full of humans wearing strange costumes. It`s carnival.
In my part of the country not many people celebrate carnival.
We don`t have many roman catholics here, most churches are protestant or reformed.
The big carnival parties are in the south. Still nothing like Brazil or Venice and Rome of course.
On Wednesday the carnival humans are expected to start their Lent, they should be fasting for 40 days.
That`s the main reason I want to stay away from carnival.
I say: bom carnaval, merry celebration, to all party-fans, and please:
don`t dress up dogs with costumes and masks and silly hats, I`ve never met a dog who likes that...

Wow, we are just going to bed here when your new photo popped up on my F/F. We don`t have carnival celebrations here, either. I would not to be involved in the whole fasting thing! I would miss my kibbles! Looks like a pretty morning! Have a nice Sunday my friend!

With you one hundred percent on the dressing dogs up Joop. Also dogs are beautiful as they are and don`t need it.

Yes, yes, dogs are just so perfect in their own wonderful fur. Costumes seem to me to insult all animals. Happy to be back to see you again Joop. Have you and your human seen what people have been writing on my page about the dogs in Asia?

Good thoughts about carnival and Lent, Joop. Dogs don`t need a Lent because they eat the right things all life long. But humans ... don`t ask me questions ;-)
I have to say you from Polly thanks for the birtday cookie :)

this photo is incredible, Paterswolde is gorgeous. It seems as though everyone is fond of nicely trimmed shrubs/trees/plants etc.. amazing. By the way, good idea staying away from costumes :)

Joop, what an enchanting street you live on!
I live in a pretty quiet part of my country; not much for carnival celebrations here!

Good afternoon, we are late...today! DKB had a busy weekend and it was a Grandma`s visit day too. P. and your street looks so familiar and we don`t know why, must have something to do with our e-brotherhood and other coincidences.Fantastic alley trees, we dogs need this! Carnival isn`t our Bossladies cup of tea, born in Northern Germany, but married to a husband from the South...and we boys also come from the swabian region around Stuttgart..hard stuff...but we all stay clean and would refuse to be dressed like apes or donkeys. You can see crazy outfits on dog`s exhibitions where dogs run around with ugly ribbons in the styled fur wearing collars...brrrrrrrr....so, Dear Joop...we have to care now for Bosslady as she is a little bit down facing a surgery of Grandma on Tuesday..have a nice Sunday with your family!B&P

Well, you have carnival...we have The Passion...that movie by Mel Gibson of the life of Jesus. And now we have Nader, the spoiler, entering the race for president. We have gwb starting his negative campaign. Seems like everything is just confused and kind of boiling in this big pot.
I guess, Joop, what I am trying to say is that it is so hard to make sense of all of this. So, enjoy your beautiful street there...it is quite lovely, and don`t try to make sense of all the human stuff. Sometimes I think dogs have a lot more common sense than we ever will.

good call on the no hats, joop! whenever my dog gets a bath in the pet shop, they put a silly little tie and it pisses him off.
and let`s all try to get some sense and stop putting those tiny shoes on dogs.
