A member of the Queen's Guard stands guard beside an entrance to St. James's Palace
in London. St. James's Palace was built in the 1530s and was a residence of kings and
queens of England for more than 300 years. It remains the official residence of the
Sovereign, although Buckingham Palace became the actual residence of the Sovereign in 1837.
