Tokaj is a picturesque little town on the Bodrog and Tisza rivers, in the heart of the Tokaj-Hegyalja region, where Hungary's famous Tokaji dessert wine is exclusively produced and which in 2002 was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. We arrived quite late in the afternoon so weren't able to spend much time and didn't get to drive around the vineyards, but saw enough to know that we'd like to go back for another look (and taste!). The town was packed with tourists, presumably spending the night to be able to fully enjoy wine tasting at one of the numerous wine cellars that line the streets.
