Roman Ruins at Volubilis, Morocco

Volubilis was settled and prospered under the Mauritanian kings, from the third century B.C. to 40 A.D., after which it was annexed by the Romans.

I finally decided to make a small sub-gallery for Volubilis as there were slightly too many pictures for the main gallery (so now I'll add a few more I wasn't going to use!).

Volubilis=rolling, changing, turning around - a very interesting name for a settlement. Your images are very impressive and give us a good idea of what life in this place might have been like.
