Inner City Parish Church (1046)

This church is the oldest building in Pest, dating from the time of Szent István, the first king of Hungary. In the 1300s, a large Gothic church was built, which was used as a mosque during the Ottoman occupation. The church was partly rebuilt in 1725-39 after the Great Fire of 1723. The original altar was destroyed during World War II; the current one dates to 1948.
