Now a Borders book store. I tried so hard to get the Garfinkel name above the awning, but simply couldn't manage much of it. (Of course, this was in sub-zero temperatures with a wind chill factor that made it the coldest day I can ever remember experiencing in my life.) Garfinkel's was a Washington institution for ages and is still a stunning building.
