Talk about overgrown

Every block on Capitol Hill has tree boxes between the sidewalk and the street, where either there are old trees planted by the city long ago or greenery and flowers put in by residents. It’s not required, but in general the person whose house is closest to the tree box is responsible for its upkeep.

This monstrosity has taken over a tree box on our block — no idea how it got there, but nobody has taken the initiative to cut it back or pull it out, so it continues to grow out of control. It’s gotten to the point that I’m sure it’s making it difficult for people to get out of their cars there, besides being an eyesore.

It is an eyesore, but I bet the bugs love it. V

Sad, I wonder what kind of plant that is.

A jungle in the city! Not what one would expect in DC!

Good grief. You’ll need a machete to attack that.

clearly the wrong plant for the location...still, those big leaves are intriguing..

C'est surprenant de voir ceci en pleine ville. V

Oh wow...this is not something you would expect to see on a sidewalk... Great photograph! V

Almost funny, but not for those who see it everyday VV~

This photo is so well taken, showing all the evidence, and hiding the car plate. Right, it's impossible to get off the car from the passenger's side. I also noticed how tightly the cars are parked next to each other. ~VVV~

I think that's a zucchini!

Looks like it gets plenty of nourishment to grow like this image shows.
Nice sharp shot.

I thought it was a fallen tree at first too but now that I look more closely it looks like a vine gone wild. Kind of like a pumpkin vine. V

I thought it was another fallen tree.V.
