Scary kitchen invader

The other night I was standing in the kitchen when some large insect whizzed past me and apparently bumped into a cabinet (I heard a big thud). I found this the next morning by the back door. I’m guessing it’s a cicada.

Eeks! I would be afraid to go into the kitchen after that. Nice capture of his “cammo.” V

A fine shot of this cicada, and with that shadow a real standout!

The wing shadow is a big bonus to the shot, although the cicada looks incredibly impressive!

You're right. It's a cicada. Was it still alive when you took your photo? He looks like he had a hard time from the bump. Like the shadow. The cicadas at our house seem particularly noisy this year. I wouldn't want that inside the house.

We saw a lot of cicadas in Tucson Arizona. Sometimes they were loud. Great close-up shot! V

I would definitely freak out if one showed up in my kitchen!

Of all the insects I've dealt with I think cicadas are the creepiest. I'm listening to them now. they're not as noisy as they have been in previous years.

Alone, harmless, but when together with a million of his buddies the sound can be deafening. Have had first hand experience with this when we lived in IN for a while.

Yes, it's a cicada, but completely harmless. Nice shot.
