Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, Hakodate

Opened in 1887 as the first commercial warehouse in Hakodate, the red brick warehouse was destroyed by a large fire but was rebuilt to its present form. Later, it was transformed into a shopping and dining complex while keeping the exterior of the warehouse intact. I’m pretty sure we saw it before it became a tourist destination.

The note on my photo says this was taken at night (maybe early evening) but that there was a fishing boat in the harbor that was so brightly lit, it was impossible to even look at. Those lights are what illuminated all the nearby buildings as seen in this photo.
