We made our usual summer trek to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, 700 acres of natural beauty managed by the National Park Service in Northeast DC. The annual Lotus and Water Lily Festival had just ended the day before, but there were still many flowers to be seen in addition to turtles, frogs and dragonflies (and a lot fewer people than there had been for the past two weeks due to the festivities).
These were probably the most unusual water lilies we saw while there, with their deep color.
