Still standing, for now

There were reports of a plot to attack the US Capitol again on March 4, the day conspiracy theorists believed Trump would be inaugurated again as the “19th president” of the United States. To everyone’s relief, nothing happened, but the city is still on edge. The Capitol Police have requested that 5,200 National Guard troops remain in Washington for two more months because the authorities don’t believe we’re out of the woods yet.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Still standing as strong as ever as the center of democracy. I afraid conspiracy theorists use threats as the only way of playing with people's minds. V

I’m glad nothing happened. It is very anxiety provoking. Very stark and unwelcoming scene. So well documented. V

I like this perspective of what is going on with the fencing around the Capitol. Gives a good fell for the situation on the Mall.

Lovely shot of the horizontal layers in front of the Capitol but the fencing is a distraction. V

The capitol seems so far away like a mirage... (As democracy is ?)

This is so sad to see, but I can certainly understand why perpetuating these imaginary threats benefits
certain viewpoints.
Gill Kopy06-Mar-2021 03:51
A lovely shot and you can hardly see the fences. I hope the guards are getting better meals !! V

An excellent view of the Capitol, and good thinking to have additional time for security.

Love the white dome and blue sky. I didn't think anything would happen. They probably got a good laugh. V
