Even US senators have to practice social distancing

I had previously complained how crowded our local park was, and it actually made the news for being full of people a few weeks ago, but this was the scene Tim saw last night. He was sure the blond woman was US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand with her son and dog Maple, who was practicing doggie distancing at the far end of the pit. The Senate isn’t in regular session AFAIK, but she’s from New York and I imagine has chosen to stay in the relatively safer DC for the time being. I should add that Lincoln Park is run by the National Park Service, and as such, it's a federal offense to have your dog off leash, but I doubt the park police would arrest anybody for that, least of all a US senator.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Nice to see people (well known or not) safely practicing social distancing. Sadly, they didn't in a lot of our city parks over the weekend. For the second weekend in a row, people flocked to the parks and didn't stay a safe distance apart.

Yes, that does look like our Senator.

They all seem to be obeying the social distancing rules, but I guess the leash law doesn’t apply to everyone.

It must be so hard to have young children and try to keep them occupied and safe. Glad to see your park has emptied out.

Nice to see people obeying the rules - too often that doesn't seem to be the case.

Everyone looks to be a good distance apart for sure. Dog owners disregarding leash laws are a persistent problem here as well, despite a good number of dog parks devoted to off leash activities.
