Vacuuming the streets

I always find it interesting how the DC Public Works Department vacuums the streets to get up all the fall leaves. This was their second and final sweep for the season.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Nicely documented. They do something similar where I live. I wish I had that for my yard. V

This is a great way of shifting the leaves, not sure what they do in cities over here! V

Happy to see a picture of the DC Public Works Department in action. The city seems to get a undeserved bad rap from some outsiders.

Very tight quarters to get their work done!
What a fascinating street image!

an excellent idea to remove the leaf mulch that you would otherwise carry into your home....large scale job though..

I wish we had that here. I can see how it's interesting to watch from above.

That actually seems like a pretty good idea. I bet it is noisy though.

Really??? I guess you folks really rank high! Where we live we feel lucky if they even clear the snow off the streets.
