Since I posted the drawbridge in Portsmouth, thought I’d also include this one in Mystic, Connecticut, which we saw across the river from the maritime museum. Not a great picture, but it was just fascinating to watch. First the roadbed was standing straight up in the air, very bizarre looking; this was taken as it was being lowered. The bridge was designed a former Otis Elevator Company chief engineer and built in 1920.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
