Every night before I head upstairs to go to bed, Sahraa sits on the stairs waiting for me to pet her as I walk by to put things back in the kitchen. Then, she goes up the stairs and parks herself on the landing, knowing that I will have to stop and pet her on my way up. She looks subdued because she saw my iPhone but didn’t want to move and not get petted. Note: This picture shows her furry pads, an adaptation to the hot desert sand in Kuwait, where she's originally from.
