Very similar to the previous picture, but I found the heron’s “expression” quite interesting when swallowing the fish.

It snowed a little today, but we are in for Arctic temperatures over the next few days. The lake was half frozen when we took these pictures on Sunday, and I suspect it will be entirely iced over by Thursday, meaning the heron and other birds won’t have any access to food. I hate to say it, but I think he’ll be gone the next time we check in on him. Tim didn’t see any birds in the gardens this evening, only the geese flying away.
