A lighter moment, for some

I think I only mentioned this briefly, but it’s apparently now illegal to stand or sit on the steps of the US Capitol, I assume as some kind of security measure. That’s the law the protestors were breaking and the reason for their arrest.

*****

We went to a protest on Saturday at the US Capitol, just to see what was going on. A large group of people protesting the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Brett Kavanagh to the US Supreme Court had stormed the steps of the Capitol and stayed there until they were led away by the police one by one and arrested. We were in a large, very emotional crowd in front of them, taking pictures.

Regardless of whether one favors his confirmation or not, I believe this was a case of democracy in action.

An excellent capture of these fiercely determined women. V

The police do not seem to be unduly stressed. Interesting smiles and whispers. Just doing a day's work. Meanwhile, the women on the right seem angry and very determined. They are obviously standing firmly together for a common cause.
