I think this will be the last picture in this gallery, unless I find any more I want to add. I must say, Tim did an outstanding job of photographing Samarkand and Tashkent, and I’m pleased his images have been so well received.
He may be returning to Uzbekistan in November, but as much as I’d like to, I doubt I’ll be accompanying him. It starts to get pretty cold there at that time of year and might not be so pleasant for sightseeing, plus he wouldn’t have time to go to Bukhara and Khiva, both of which I’d like to see in addition to Samarkand. We’re thinking of taking a vacation next spring in Central Asia, a region I’ve always wanted to visit but never managed to despite having spent 11 years living in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which aren’t all that far away from the five “Stans” – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan
