Across the water: In flight

Despite the great distance, Tim was intent on photographing some Great Egrets across the water, and he also wanted to see how and if continuous focus worked.

This series will be significantly cropped after already being cropped in camera using DX format. Still, I thought they turned out pretty well. I could barely even see the birds and most definitely couldn’t get them well enough with the Sony.

*****

We stopped at Virginia’s Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary, which we’ve passed many times on the parkway, to see what was there. It’s not an easy place to navigate and isn’t really set up for viewing anything, but we found a few openings on to the water and saw some great egrets and a few other birds along with dragonflies and other insects. It’s also on the final approach to Reagan National Airport.

Beautiful photo and the egret is perfectly positioned in that darker area so the eye is immediately drawn to it. Nice work. BV
