The very distant heron

Tim spent a lot of time trying to capture this heron, which was quite far away, in the bushes in front of RFK Stadium. I think it’s too much of a crop even for the D850 since it was already set on DX format and cropped internally. I got a picture of it with the Sony, the next picture, but this one might be a bit better.

Taken on the walkway connecting mainland Washington, D.C., to Heritage Island in the Anacostia River.

Agree with Jim, the Great Blue Heron is quite shy and often difficult to get close to them. So congrats on this one!

Ok maybe not so detailed on the heron, but shows the bird in this environment nicely.
