Stranded tree

In a dramatic (and temporary) departure from my Hillwood Estate gallery, this was the Potomac River on Saturday at Great Falls Park, about a 20-minute drive from DC. We had had heavy rainfall for the last six days, and the river had reached flood stage, cresting on Sunday.

Since we drove out there just to see the state of the river – as a lot of people did because the park was packed -- I’ll be posting a few more pictures of it.
