The perfect shadow

The main house didn’t have many flowers in front, but I was intrigued by the shadow of the weathervane. When I went to take a picture a few seconds later with my other camera, the wind had blown the eagle around and the perfect shadow was gone.

*****
Although we've been here several times before, we decided to make a spring visit Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, legendary heiress of General Foods, diplomat, philanthropist and distinguished collector of French and Russian art and jewelry. We were there just slightly past peak for some of its many azaleas and rhododendrons, but still the grounds were lovely at this time of year.

Indeed lovely ligthing and the perfect shadow, just in time at the right place, so you can see how quickly an ideal position changes, this is great photo work BV

Yes, the shadow is most interesting and your timing is fortuitous - a little earlier or later and the shadow would not be visible on the steeply pitched roof, and not to mention the wind direction directly from north or south! But you got the shot which is what counts! Manse looks pretty impressive from this elevation. V.

First of all, you had to have seen this shadow to begin with. I am sure many people would have not even noticed it. V

Perfect shadow indeed! I also like how the sculpture stands out against the dark background in this photo. V
