Ancient city of Hierapolis

Hierapolis was an ancient city located on hot springs in classical Phrygia in southwestern Anatolia, or Asia Minor. Its ruins are adjacent to modern Pamukkale (see picture below) in Turkey and currently comprise an archeological museum designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Hierapolis was founded as a thermal spa early in the second century B.C. within the sphere of the Selucid Empire. Antiochus the Great sent 2,000 Jewish families to Lydia and Phrygia from Babylon and Mesopotamia, later joined by more from Judea. The Jewish congregation grew in Hieropolis and as been estimated as high as 50,000 in 62 B.C. (Wikipedia)

I wish I had taken more pictures of this site, but for some odd reason I have only a few.
