Marquise Diamond Ring

The Marquise Diamond Ring was made by Cartier, Inc. during the Art Deco period. The platinum ring highlights an exceptional 28.3ct marquise cut diamond from South Africa. There are four triangular cut, eight baguette cut, and 60 round brilliant cut diamonds that are set along the shank and the undercarriage of the mounting in a garland motif. The ring was gifted to the Smithsonian Institution in 1964 by Mrs. Adelaide Riggs, the daughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post.

That is a spectacular diamond. Too dangerous to wear, so the Smithsonian is a good place for it. :-)
