Free, partly free, not free

The World Press Freedom Map rates countries around the world as free (green), partly free (yellow) and not free (red). I’ve worked for Turkish newspapers for 20 years, and Turkey was rated “partly free” until 2014, when it was downgraded to “not free.”

A few Newseum exhibits, posted earlier:

If partly free means that a part of the journalists are financed by the government while the other half of them by the opposition, then it is really true for my country (Hungary). V

a sad map; even (or especially) where its free it is because there is too much noise for particular voice to be heard

authoritarian governments plague the world...it would be ideal to be rid of autocrats, particularly the simplistic ones, yet that seems more and more unlikely....
