Keowah, the red-tailed hawk

Keowah is a male red-tailed hawk. At three weeks of age he was found with an injury to his back, probably as a result of an attack by another bird. The wound was severely infected and required a lot of attention from the staff at the American Eagle Foundation. Because of the handling necessary to treat his injury, they believe he is human imprinted and therefore cannot be returned to the wild.
