From the American Revolutionary War

James Gillespie was a US Congressman from North Carolina for most of the years between 1793 and his death in 1805. He was a member of the North Carolina militia during the American Revolutionary War as well as the State Constitutional Convention in 1776 and the State House of Commons and State Senate. There is some dispute as to when and where he was born, but it seems to have been in 1747 in either Ireland or North Carolina.
