In the Russian sacred arts gallery

In 1791 Catherine the Great presented this chalice and other liturgical vessels to a monastery in St. Petersburg in memory of her paramour, Grigory Potemkin. The chalice is made of gold, diamonds, chalcedony, bloodstone, nephrite, carnelian and cast glass.
