'Daddy, my paw hurts!'

Sahraa seems to have a serious problem with her pads when walking on treated snowy pavement, such as with salt or chemicals. Tim said since he’s been back that walking in this kind of weather is a few steps at a time.

Poor baby......

Oh, poor girl. She looks heartbreakingly sad here. And yes, salt is awful for dog's paws, most of them lift their paws like this, trying to stop the pain. Petroleum jelly or boots is what I've heard. Not all dogs react as badly. Sasha doesn't react too much, but one of my other dogs was just like Sahraa. V

:( Have you bought boots for Sahraa yet? I think that they may be the perfect solution for her.

I've never tried it myself, but supposedly Musher's Secret would protect her paws from the salt and snow. I love her expression! V

Although Sahraa is warm climates, you want to enjoy and run on any terrain! V

Someone told me that you should lubricate with petroleum jelly in the soles of the feet.
Mairéad08-Jan-2017 11:37
Aww- poor girl. Maybe wash her paws down after her walk until you get snow shoes.

Vaseline on the pads is a great help.

I would not want to go bare pawed in the snow either.

She needs shoes. I used to see many dogs with "snow shoes" in Boston. The salt is not good for their pads~V~
