Kaohsiung dancers

Portland, Oregon

We attended the Grand Floral Parade, the highlight of the Portland Rose Festival. I haven’t been to a parade in a long time and really just went for something to photograph, but in the end was glad that I did. Living overseas as much as we have, it’s easy to forget what America and its people are all about, but this very multiethnic event was a good reminder.

These dancers were from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a sister city of Portland.

Great catch of the dancers. I was wondering where their drum was hiding, but I do see it in the background, on wheels. V

Parades are so much fun to watch. I often get a lumps in my throats when the marchers pass by, especially the children whom I know have spent a lot of time rehearsing, probably when they'd rather be playing.
