'Fruit cordial'

It’s amazing how much non-alcoholic beverages here are made to look like the real thing. This was called “Fruit cordial” and was produced in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. After sugar, seems like the biggest ingredient was pear juice. You also see a lot of "Saudi champagne," which is served in restaurants, and beer that looks real but with no alcohol. Not all that much fake wine, though.

Bizarre, posted earlier:

It is very interesting and strange that they would allow substitutes for the real thing if they are so opposed to alcohol. V

they like their sugary drinks then...odd packaging as you suggest...if alcohol is a no-no, why pretend?..

Interesting alternative beverage, Helen. I hope you have been able to access some wine along the trip.
