Desert housing

Heading back to Riyadh on the Makkah Highway, we saw countless housing developments under construction such as this one. I can’t even imagine who would want to live all the way out here, really in the middle of the desert.

Rocks on the highway, posted earlier:

Since the Saudis don't like anybody to get too close to them, I would imagine these developments are for "guest workers" and other infidels that need to live somewhere while they are working in this country. Perhaps these are military housing developments. Another mystery to dwell upon.

It would seem very isolated and a difficult way to live. Too much sprawl. It must be difficult to get water out there.

It may be "way out there" right now but in a few years it might not be. Look at how our suburbs grew from "way out there".

Difficult to image people living there so much out of the way from the capital.V

Looks like a big new development, interesting scene.

What a big difference with the monumental entrance gates you posted earlier.
