Work in progress (3): January 2016

This is a series of three pictures showing the progress of a group of buildings over the period of little more than a year. The project is so enormous and so ambitious, with an intended finish date of 2017, they really need to work quickly, and it shows – every time we go past there, you can see how individual buildings are coming along amazingly well.

I thought this would be the end of this gallery, but we went out again today, so I suppose not! All these buildings must be getting pretty boring, but it's still all I can do at the moment, unfortunately (although I do love architecture). There is a huge culture festival coming up in February, and I'm hoping I can again walk on my own two feet by then because there will be a lot of photo opportunities, and photography isn't restricted there (at least it wasn't two years ago).

Great composition. They are really building the city out of the desert. V

More amazing structures, a brilliant sun really brings out the color and details. Always wonder who would occupy them. V

The size of these structures next to the climbing crane is mind boggling. Nice light on them, Helen. Vote.

Seems like there's a competition among architects designing for this part of the world for who can come up with the most unique structure.

A superb view on this construction site. I think the workers are enduring hard working conditions to finalize the project in time. V.

You see some progress but I think the progress is mainly visible on the interior.
