We took a tour of Al Fateh Mosque, the largest in Bahrain and the only one on the island open to non-Muslims. Built on reclaimed land in 1984, this grand mosque is made from marble from Italy, glass from Austria and teak wood from India, carved by Bahraini craftspeople. The tour was very interesting as we were able to observe mid-afternoon prayer being conducted, and our delightful guide was quite happy to answer any questions we might have had about Islam.
