Several people have commented about seeing trees in my pictures and said they thought there were no trees in Iceland. There don’t seem to be many, and the relatively few there are I have to think were planted rather than naturally occurring. I remember seeing one stand of trees that was grotesquely bent over from the wind, a fate that must occur to a lot of them because the wind is so incredibly strong and ever-present here. It looked like some enterprising farmer had planted quite a few in this area near our hotel in Höfn.
We started our long drive back to Reykjavik in uncertain weather – very cloudy, cold and windy, but at least it wasn’t raining as it had the day before.
