Svínafellsjökull

We stopped at the Svínafellsjökull glacier and glacier lagoon both driving to Höfn and returning to Reykjavik. The weather was a bit better on the way home, but I’m posting a few pictures from this glacier here since it’s a travelogue of our visit (and there were no people on the glacier on our return trip). No birds, either.

The sign marking the glacier warned about falling into crevasses, hypothermia, quicksand and falling rocks and landslides. It also mentioned that the gravel bank we had been standing on was subject to collapse at any time. We saw the sign on our way out ;-).

Sounds like they want to make sure you are really on your toes when you are there. How delightful it is to see these geese parading across the landscape. Nicely done. ~V~
